A Blogging Fundraiser to Benefit Animals

I admit it, I haven’t had a chance to check in with many of the blogs I usually follow as of late. Between a virus that has been hanging on now for a good week and a half, and all of my recent vet visits, I’ve cut my computer time to a minimum. But today, in between coughing and yelling “Meadow, Leave-it!” when she goes for her stitches, I decided to try and catch up a little on my reading. The first blog I visited happened to be Life with Desmond, and while there I learned of A Holiday Blogging Event for Animals, put together by Two Little Cavaliers and Pamper Yourself in Pink.

Pretty much, a bunch of us bloggers each chip in $10.00 to enter the contest. At the end of the contest, one of the blogs will be chosen at random to receive the prize money….60% of the money contributed by bloggers goes to a 501c3 Animal Related Charity of the blogger’s choosing that actively rescues animals, and the remaining 40% of it goes to the blogger to do with what they like.

Vet bills perhaps?

Any money chipped in by non-entrants goes exclusively to the charity – not to pad any blogger’s pockets. So don’t be shy about chipping in even if you don’t wish to participate.

Knowing the majority of the money is going to an animal related cause, I entered. All I have to do is make a few more posts about the event when they instruct me to, and pick which charity I want to donate to if I win. I do have a few deserving ones in mind…I just need to find out if they are eligible first.

So bear with me, and in one of my future posts I’ll announce who I’ve chosen. Wish me luck!

Oh, and if any of my fellow bloggers want to join this contest, click on THIS LINK to find out more….just make sure to tell them you found out about it at Donna and the Dogs. Good luck everyone…can’t wait to see which charity gets the winnings. Of course, I’m a little biased and I hope it goes to a dog related one, but I love all animals, so no matter what, someone wins.

P.S. Meadow’s doing quite well today, although she’s determined to have at those stitches in her armpit. As for Toby, just this morning I found another lump on his chest (which makes about twelve in his collection), so he’s going in when Meadow gets her stitches out so our vet can have a look-see. Did I mention that I now have two hand drawn charts that I made to keep track of Toby and Meadow’s lumps? Sigh. On the bright side, I don’t want to say it too loudly, but I’ll whisper to you the good news that Leah hasn’t made “The Noise” since I last posted about it. Hopefully, she’s finally on the mend…

We love everyone who would like to participate whether they have Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ Pages or not. Thank you for participating and for telling your readers about the event.

Spiffy! I haven’t been able to get to everyone’s blogs lately either so this is the first I’m reading about it. (I’ll mention that when I sign up. ;)

Good grief about the kids, though. Do you need a chart to keep track of meds and visits too? Hope it all continues to be good news.

Thanks Leslie. And good luck in the contest – as long as you pick a doggie cause to donate too. ;-)

So far, the calendar has been sufficient for that, although we DID use a pill organizer for at one point earlier this year when all three of them were sick…

It’s been one of those years and I’m hoping the next one will be better. :-)
