Look What the Storm Dragged In

So me and my peoples and the two zombies and our evil kitties all made it through the storm, and we were even one of the lucky 10 % of homes on Long Island left with power in Sandy’s wake. You might be thinking, “What about Bo?” – my doppelganger who had been staying with us since last Monday and was supposed to ride out the storm with us…
Well if you saw the photos of him that I posted, you may have noticed that Meadow was not in any of them. This was because she didn’t like him from the moment he arrived, and she let him know this by snarking at him. Well, one thing led to another and soon she was snarking, he was barking, and then Leah tried to break it up, which led to the girls fighting and scared me so much I needed a drink…
Then I started getting sick again and the girls got into yet another fight…
Despite all this, my peoples tried to manage everyone by keeping everyone entirely separated because they felt bad returning Bo, but things escalated, plus Bo let my peoples know in no uncertain terms that he did not want to be confined by x-pens and baby gates and the tension got really bad here and The One Called Donna had no idea how she would keep everyone safe during a stressful storm. So with a very sad (and stressed) heart, she made last minute arrangements with his rescue group and she and The One Named Nick dropped Bo off at a boarding kennel on Sunday night just before the storm.
Although The One Called Donna felt like she failed at fostering and failed the rescue group and failed Bo, she feels her decision was the right one for our household and declared she will not be trying her hand at fostering again any time soon. As it turned out, the rescue group reported that Bo was doing great at the kennel, and all of us calmed down over here too and we even experienced a little bit of quiet before the storm rolled in…
And when it came, it brought along a visitor.
During the height of the storm my peoples heard meows coming from right out on the front step and The One Named Nick went outside and saw a kitten which ran away from him and into the woods. Armed only with a flashlight, he braved the storm and followed the kitten outside, where he stood under the swaying trees digging through a wood pile until he caught the little critter – which thanked him like any evil wild kitty would – which was by scratching him.
It is now residing in our basement inside a dog crate until my peoples can get it tested for kitty diseases, (our vet did not answer their phone today), and once the kitten is “in the clear” my peoples will be putting it up for adoption. We already have three interested parties, but we will see what they think after we learn just how wild the kitten is – or if it is just really scared.
My peoples have experience bringing around “feral” kittens because of our cat Cinder, so if they have to, they will socialize the evil creature first and then look for a home – but they said they will NOT keep it because they have too many four leggers as it is. Of course it will ultimately be up to his or her new owner – but my peoples think whoever adopts it should name it “Sandy” or “Stormy,” and Meadow’s old foster peoples, Lesli, suggested the cool name “Tempest” as well.

Stormy?

Sandy?

Tempest?
I hope you all did well through the storm, and I wanted to remind you that I won’t be posting for the next month while The One Called Donna tries her hand at speed novel writing. Have a peaceful November and a Happy Thanksgiving – and I’ll see you all again in December!

Oh that kitty is just sooooo cute. I had a feral kitty when I was a kid. Back then we just called them wild.
She was charcoal gray with a black nose. Reminds me of that kitty…black nose…heehee. We called her Muffin because she spent the first months with us all hunched up like a muff (the kind that keeps your hands warm)….lol.
Glad to hear you all made it through the storm. Too bad about Bo. That is one of the drawbacks of trying to blend adult dogs.
Would you like us to ship it to you after it is vetted? LOL!
The storm where we were wasn’t too scary. Well I didn’t think so. The One Called Donna seemed pretty worried, and Leah hid under the kitchen table when it blew through. We were much luckier than a lot of other peoples and pups though!
We’re so glad you came through Sandy all right. The pictures sure were scary.
Cats are evil. That’s all I have to say on that.
Cats are evil. I think it was trying to lure The One Named Nick outside to certain death!
Glad you are safe and sound! That kitty knew exactly where to go, didn’t it?? Good luck with your novel, can’t wait to hear how it goes!!!
Yeah, it was weird that the evil kitty showed up on my peoples door steps. Must have known they were suckers! The One Called Donna says thanks about the novel. She changed ideas last minute, and says hopefully that’s a good thing, but who knows?
Happy Howl-o-ween! Glad you survived the storm! What a sweet kitten, mom said she could not give it up – lucky for us we don’t find pets usually or we would need to move to a farm!
We will miss you in November but that will make your return all the more special. Happy writing! Emma
We just have too many mouths to feed (and not enough vet monies) but my peoples will make sure he gets a good home.
Glad to hear everyone made it through the storm safe and sound. It can be hard to bring a fourth dog into a household. We’ve been in that situation before too, where we had to ask rescue to find another foster because the mix of personalities just wasn’t going to work safely. You made a hard choice, but the right choice.
Glad to hear my peoples aren’t the only ones who had to turn a foster away. Aside from the girls fighting, Bo didn’t bother me in the least bit.
hello donna its dennis the vizsla dog hay that kitty luks verry mutch like my layt sister pooh bear the kitty i only noo pooh bear the kitty for a month before she went away but she seemd verry sweet and hardly eevil at all unlike my other layt sister trouble the kitty!!! ennyway gud job reskyewing that poor kitty frum the eevil sandy storm!!! ok bye
Evil or not, my peoples say no more furfaces. Perhaps we can ship the kitty to warm and sunny San Diego?
Just like a cat to ask for help and then run away. I like the names you all have picked out for her? Too bad about Bo, I’m not sure how my guys would get along with a new pup.
Glad to hear you got through okay and that’s great about the power. It would suck to start the writing month off with no power or way to write.
Best of luck Donna, see you on the other side.
My peoples were upset about Bo, but the rescue people said he is doing fine, so all is well! The One Called Donna almost got a reprieve from NaNoWriMo today, cause our power went out for six hours – but it came back on again, so now she has to go through with it.
Glad you are all safe and sound! I am a firm believer that that cat arrived for a reason….I would strongly re-consider keeping her. That is how I got my beloved Bobo…who I had for 18 yrs. I had found a dog first (during Thanksgiving) that I couldn’t keep. I found it a great home and 2 weeks later Bobo turned up in a snowstorm.
That cat came to you for a reason….and I think it’s name should be “Stormy”
Eighteen YEARS? That’s a long sentence for saving a kitty! LOL! That was awesome of you to save Bobo though. My peoples just can’t afford any more vet monies though….
Glad you guys made it through the storm okay and that little kitty is so cute! Have a Happy Halloween and stay safe!
If you like the kitty, we can always ship it….!
Have a Happy Halloween too!!
your gonna be missed!! Good luck Donna with all the writing and I can’t believe I have to wait a whole month to find out what happens to Sandy/Tempest/Stormy. Welld one Nick for rescuing her/him – do we know?
Stay safe and keep away from the zombies toby!!
We do not yet know if it is a boy or a girl….our vet has not reopened from the storm. But from the looks of things, a month from now we might still be socializing it.
Hey Toby, please tell Miss Donna – that I just wanted to say thank you for taking such good care of me during my stay. Sorry I was a little anxious that last day. I have been so confused in the past few months – I was in a home with those little two legged people, playing in their yard and than was off to step Mom Adrienne’s who loves to cuddle with me and give me those mato treats and than she left me too. I was so scared, lonely and confused. Miss Adrienne has still not come for me but I have been playing with other dogs – so am fine for now. Thanks Toby for allowing me to share your home and give your Momma Donna a big kiss from me!
Hey Bo Bo – thanks for stopping by and letting us all know you are okay. I’m so sorry that you get moved around so much and I hope some peoples fall in love with you soon and take you in, so you can finally know what it is like to have a forever home.
I’m glad that you are all alright & that the baby kitten has a safe place.
Nubbin wiggles,
Oskar
Thanks Oskar…baby kitten is a boy. Only about 8 weeks per our vet. Looked older with all that fur!
Hey Toby,
So sorry it didn’t work out with Bo, but your folks did the best thing, it’s important everyone is happy and safe!!
I loved the story about the Kittie, yay for your Dad!! It is super cute – I so wish I was allowed one…. sigh!!
Wags to all
Your pal Snoopy
Thanks Snoopy, my peoples felt really bad about the whole Bo thing, but they still feel they made the right decision. As far as the kitten, he is five days in to a two week trial at a possible adoptive home (depends on the feelings of the peoples’ existing evil kitty) and so far, things are looking like he might stay there. I say phew! Two is enough evil kitties for one household!
Wow, there’s been a lot of excitement going on at Casa Toby. It must have been really tough.
Your person did a great job of figuring out things with Bo even though it must have been hard. Part of being a good foster parent is thinking of what’s best for everyone.
Glad you came through the storm ok.
Thanks Pamela-peoples, for supporting my peoples decision. It was a hard one for them. Yup, we were very lucky in the storm, even the second one, which brought some fun snow to play in!
What a big heart you have. So glad that you have power and that everything is alright.
Thanks for stopping by the blog and taking the time to leave a comment! As far as the storm, we were one of the lucky families.
Glad to hear you guys made it through the storm okay!
Hope your NaNoWriMo project is coming along well… I’ve been stalled and I need to find my motivation again.
The One Called Donna is nuts. Her project stalled about twelve days in, and she has since started a second one that she LOVES. As far as whether she can finish it, we’ve only got a week left to tell!
