The Dog Demands to Know

Now that I’m an “official” blogger, I’ve been trying to figure out all the ins and outs of social media and there’s something – besides “Twitter” – that I really don’t understand.¬†Every once in a while (like when I sneak away on vacation or when we have shepherds staying for the weekend or when I spend my time hiding from Zombies) I fall behind on reading every one else’s posts and I have a hard time catching up…

But the strange thing is, whenever I do manage to steal the computer from my peoples to do a little blog reading, I head on over to some of the fun blogs I like to follow in my blogroll… and find out that a lot of you peoples…have already been to like ALL of them.

You know WHO you ARE.

And don’t bother trying to deny it – because you leave behind little comments. Every. Where. You. Go.

Oh, yeah. You’ve been there. Read that. Agreed with this. Argued that fact. Even if it’s dinner time. Or nap time. Or treat time. Or breakfa…It really doesn’t matter – because you’ve been to ALL of them.

So I want to know one thing. How the heck do you do it?

It makes me think I must be missing something. Some BIG secret out in blogland that I don’t know about. I mean, I know some of you are just as backed up as me. Like Desmond’s peoples – last time she checked, she was behind like 141 doggie blogs (the Non-Dog blogs don’t matter, of course). But what about the rest of you peoples? What’s the deal?

Are you all speed readers or something? Do you have doppelgangers? Minions that read the blogs for you and leave comments? A device that transmits the blogs into your heads while you’re sleeping? Jobs where you do nothing but read blogs all day. Eyes on the sides of your head and three computer screens?

Do you pay the cat to do it? (Maybe you made a deal that involves a little baggie and some catnip?)

Come on, you can tell ME. I’ll share your secret on facebook and on twitter and¬† I won’t tell anyone else…

So how do you peoples do it?

Oh Toby, dog bless you for asking these questions. I’ve wondered the same thing at times. I blame it on my age and need for sleep. ;)

I’m hoping this weekend to come up with some kind of plan to stay on top of things. Part of my problem is that I have just enough time to read but not enough to leave a comment and I feel terrible about that. I’m hoping people will respond here to how they’re managing to do it all – I could use some tips. :]

Mom and I seem to spend more and more time with it all, I think it could be a 24/7 job really. I subscribe to my favorites and I try to read them all as they come into my inbox. If I don’t think it is a topic for me I skim through quickly, other ones I really reada and comment on but the trick is to get through them all the day they come in, once behind it is hard to ever catch up.

  3. Oh, Toby. What a great question. I certainly hope you figure it out because I need to know too.

My personal suspicion is that some people have stopped eating, sleeping, and going to the bathroom.

  4. Hey Toby,

Well clearly I don’t know the secret either buddy – cos I only just read this and your previous post!! Tee Hee

I love the Cat idea – I know where all the treats are stored, so if I had a Cat I’m sure I could bribe it to help out – but I’m still working on the tricky bit of getting Mum to get me a Cat!! :(

Let me know what you come up with buddy,

    Your pal Snoopy :)

    • Toby says:

We have a spare cat, if you really want one Snoops. We can even give you the loudmouth & clingy talkative & cuddly grey and white one since he matches your fur.

      • Ooooh that would be awesome Tobes!!

Oh no – Dad just caught me typing and said one animal shedding grey and white fur in the house is enough!! I don’t hardly even shed – it’s so not fair!!

        Doh – I need a plan!!

        :)

Good question. Where’s the answer? Maybe we should ask Dachshund Nola because she does a wonderful job of commenting in everybody’s blog… and I mean, everybody! Or we could ask the OP pack.. heck, I have gReader in my tablet so I just check out new blogs. Read once in awhile but fail to comment as often as I want to.

    LOL.

    Huggies and Cheese,

    Haopee

I’m struggling too, I can’t even keep up with the comments on my blog!

Here’s what I’m doing, I subscribe to all my blogs in Google Reader (currently it’s telling me I have 108 posts to read.) Then I start reading. If there are blogs that have like 8 posts since I signed in yesterday I probably don’t read them all, I sort of skim through, pick out the ones that pertain to me and move along.

Emma’s right, I feel like I could be on the computer 24/7 and still not get everything done that I want/need to.

Let me know if someone divulges the secret.

    • Toby says:

I’m afraid to put them in a google reader. I think it’s best NOT to know how far behind I truly am!

      • Jodi says:

I disagree, there’s so much satisfaction in hitting “mark all as read.” :-) it really makes it easier to focus quickly (at least for me) on the blogs and posts I really want to read and then fluff through the rest.

        • Toby says:

Good that it works for you! You do seem to keep up with your blogs well!

        • Lauren says:

I basically do what jodi does, only I do it all from my phone–usually during my commute and sometimes during my lunch break (like now). This presents the added challenge of complicated sign-in systems or captchas. Very annoying. But I don’t have any other time–I am barely even blogging at this point. :-(

          • Toby says:

Hi Lauren-peoples. It is hard to keep up with the blog, especially when you are worried about Desmond’s health! That, of course, is much more important!

  7. We would like to know how they do it too!

    the brown dawgs

  8. Dogs N Pawz says:

We want to know the answer when you find out cause we have a hard time keeping up too! It is a never ending job and it is even harder getting mom to stay at that computer and type everything for us:( Please share when you figure it out!!!!!

    • Toby says:

Everyone seems to want to know the answer, but I haven’t found a peoples who knows it yet! If I find it, I’ll definitely let you know!
